We started this project in 2006 to fill the gap of open source management systems for the well known Asterisk PBX. There was no system yet that provides an abstract, generic backend service to the Asterisk system. We developed a framework based on a SOAP API that allows you to access:
- call listings
- call forwardings
- personal preferences like ringtones, phone passwords and PIN codes etc.
- all administration tasks like adding new extensions or devices
Further the AGIS package contains scripts and tools for provisioning (snom)-phones with appropriate configurations and automatically maintaining extensions. The current package is in production use in different places since June 2006 with more that 200 users each!
